| Special materials used in Yeovilton.....
Jon Jefferies, Head of Marketing at The Fleet Air Arm Museum in Yeovilton, Somerset contacted C3imaging with a request to provide suggestions for producing a giant graphic on the exterior of the site.
The exterior walls of the Museum used to be made of glass. The clear frontage through, which Concorde could be seen, was both impressive and visually exciting. Unfortunately ultra violet rays began to damage the Museum’s exhibits and the decision was taken to replace the glass walls with solid cladding.
The frontage of the two hangars was therefore available as a gigantic 135 square metre ‘canvas’ onto which they wanted to display a suitable corporate image to promote the attraction. Their main problem would be the very strong winds which howl across the airfield.
C3imaging suggested installing self-adhesive panels using special material that would last in bright sunlight for a number of years and not be affected by the strong winds, this would also keep the cost within their budget.
Printing and installation - which was brought forward at the last minute by a day due a visit by VIPs in time for a Special Falklands Exhibit - was carried out by C3Bristol staff and involved the use of a 14m high scissor lift and under strict MOD security. The install team were given a round of applause by museum staff on completion.
The result - in the words of the museum's marketing manger, Jon Jefferies:
''...thank you once again for a job very well done. Everyone is delighted with the new graphic panels - they look stunning. Please pass on my thanks to your colleagues who have done a really first rate job...'' | Back to Case Studies Archived Case Studies
